Yet another weblog rebirth

Welcome to the new and improved version of twocentsworth.com. I’m definitely not finished, but I’ve got a good start at getting Movable Type setup exactly the way I want it. So far I’m very pleased. Everytime I decide I want to implement some feature, I look in the MT manual and there it is.

I really can’t believe I used my own blog software for as long as I did. The feature set doesn’t even compete. I’m also super pleased with Dreamhost, even though they said last month was their worst as far as outages. I didn’t notice at all.

Because I’m being a perfectionist and at the very same time, a horrible procrastinator, I probably won’t be finished with the redesign until after the holidays. I can live with that. Can you?

Moving this site to Dreamhost has forced me brush up on my unix skills and I’ve decided to dig into some php. I found a great script called PHPSlideshow which now power my photo galleries. I also plan to try textism’s refer tool, not that I get any referrals.

I like the current design. It has a subtly modern and clean look. On a separate note... Yay for PHP!

thanks for the compliment, paul. PHP is a pretty feature rich language. I wish I would have been playing with it before now.

My only qualm with PHP is that it is sort of hacked together. I have to check the online manual ( http://php.net/word-to-search-for ) often because the language is inconsistent with use of capitals and underscores and functions. I am sure that some of it will be fixed in new versions. strip_Slashes() comes to mind.
