New Site Launch: Hutgear.com

Warning: self-promotion ahead

We recently launched a new website at work. Hutgear.com is a site devoted to selling JanSport backpacks and is “powered by” the Summit Hut.

This is the main project that I’ve been involved with at work so far. Plenty of room to improve it, but one of the things I’m proud of is the product color swatch feature. Too many web retailers that have this relatively simple feature don’t follow through with the selected color on the hi-resolution photo. From a user experience standpoint that bugs me, so I made sure ours worked. The next thing to fix is our shopping basket and the hi-res photo page itself. Like I said, “plenty of room to improve”.

The hutgear homepage validates XHTML Transitional, but don’t try any deeper pages. And I know about several display issues with certain unnamed browsers. Some of these display issues will eventually be fixed.

Cool stuff Aaron. I agree I get so annoyed when they show me a full size image in one color then a tiny swatch.

You could take it one step further and in the pop-up pre-select the drop down to show the current color.

Don't you miss working with me? 8-)

Nice work!

check it out. The dimentions and weight are backwards on that backpack.
