Thanksgiving Day Run 2002

Jenny and I both ran in the Thanksgiving Day race this year. It was probably the largest road race I’ve ever run in. Over 8,000 runners and 1000 walkers made the start seem pretty daunting.

I started in the 9 min/mile pace, but soon picked it up a bit and finished just under 50:00 minutes. Not spectacular, but I was pleased. The course was very nice (no hills), and there was enough food afterward to feed half the city.

When we got home from the race, we had to shower and speed to the airport to catch a 4:00pm flight to Orlando. Our thanksgiving was spent with Jenny’s sister near the magical world of Disney.

Since Joan had to work on Thursday, turkey was post-poned until Saturday, but I didn’t mind. We had a great time visiting Kennedy Space Center and riding around in several different boats on Lake Disney.

I thouroughly enjoyed the short holiday break, and hope you did too.
