On my iPod

iPodI was one of the few lucky ones to receive an iPod for Christmas this year and I’ve been obsessing with it and my music collection ever since. Here’s what’s on my iPod now. I also have a good collection of IT Conversations that I’ve picked up over the past month or so.

The ear buds that came with the iPod are definitely less than adequate, so tonight I ran out to Target and picked up a relatively cheap pair. I felt like it was going to be a crap shoot since I’d read so many complaints about sound quality and fit for ear buds. Luckily these ones feel great in my ear and sound pretty darn good.

My friend Pat recently hacked up a little iTunes “what’s playing” feature for his site and if all goes well I’ll have something like that on here soon.

Quick question ... how did you generate this page?

Actually the iPod page itself is using a slightly modified version of my PHP Photo Gallery script.

As I imported my music into iTunes, I'd find the artwork on Amazon or elsewhere on the web and drag it to iTunes and then drag from iTunes to a folder on my machine. Then I created two little photoshop actions to size the images. Yet another program (ACDSee) was used to rename the thumbnail images.

Everything was pushed up to the server and viola~!

It's not as automated as I'd like it to be, but that's often how these things start out. If I come up with some better solution I'll post it.
